In recent news, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources agency has announced that forest coverage in Negros Occidental has increased to 9% from 4.7%.

According to the agency’s spokesperson Officer Wilfred Penalosa, reforestation efforts and protection of existing resources have helped to maintain the increase of forest coverage.
